Carlos Cantu

Vaaler Creek

Carlos Cantu was the only player to shoot a gross score under 80, carding a 43/36 for a total of 79 (net 66). His strong performance earned him a 5-stroke victory over Corky Diaz DeLeon and a 6-stroke lead over Mike Von. Nicely done, Carlos—congratulations on a great round!
Bryan Rocha did not compete in this tournament but remained in first place for the year. Charlie Gomez made up some ground on Pete Perez, who currently holds the second-place position. However, with only two tournaments left in the season, Charlie is mathematically out of contention to catch him. At this point, the only player with a chance to overtake Pete for second place is Raul Medellin, who trails by just $295,000. Good luck, Raul—play well! Here are the numbers.
Thanks,

There wasn’t much movement in where each player is currently in the standings, but Pete Perez and Raul Medellin did make up some ground on our current player in first place Bryan Rocha. We have 8 tournaments remaining this year. Next up is at La Cantera on September 27th. It is one of the better courses that we play, so you should sign up soon to reserve your spot.

Here are The Buckhorn Totals, Stats, and updated Standings.

Steve Copp

Silverhorn

Okay our first 2025 Tournament is in the books. It was a beautiful day at Silverhorn. It was in the mid 60s temperature wise when the first group teed off at 9:00am and it got up to the mid to high 70s. The course was in good shape for the beginning of February. The greens were a bit faster than the practice green but for the most part they were okay. Steve Copp started off the year strong shooting 44/47, 91 Net 71 and finished one stroke ahead of Victor Darnold who shot 41/43, 84 Net 72 and three strokes ahead of Charlie Gomez who shot 41/42, 83 Net 74. Good job Fellas!

Here are the totals for the tournament. I will try to put a recap of the scorecards for each player. It is color coded by hole with an Eagle, Birdie, Par, Bogie, and Other designation. (see below and the attached pdf) Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Bryan Rocha

Olympia Hills

Congratulations to Bryan Rocha on winning his 2nd Major Tournament for the year at Olympia Hills! Bryan has finished either in 1st or 2nd place in 9 tournaments this year and is running away from the field. Looks like we are competing for that 2nd place finish Fellas! It is well deserved Bryan; you have been consistently playing great! John Tirey, Ronnie Salazar, Mario “The Commish” Perez, and Pete Perez finished out the top five spots. (Ronnie and Mario tied for the 3rd place podium spot.)

Attached are the 2-day net totals, Standings, and Stats. Check them out.

Kevin Starry

Northern Hills

Players had to manage the elements on the course at Northern Hills. It was raining the entire time. The top player did just that! Kevin Starry made one of his occasional appearances and seized the win by one stroke over Bryan Rocha, & by three strokes over Ronnie Salazar, and the rest of the field. Congratulations Kevin on a well deserved win!!
Mr. Bryan Rocha keeps playing exceptionally well! He keeps increasing his lead in the standings each tournament and remains in first place. Pete Perez, Joe Loya, Raul Medellin, and Charlie Gomez round out the five.
Here are the final numbers, stats, and updated standings.

Raul Medellin

Randolph AFB

Raul Medellin had two consistent days of golf at Randolph Oaks shooting a net 72 on day one and a net 73 on day two for a total score of 145. Pete Perez was only two strokes back with a net two-day total of 147 and “The Commish” Mario Perez had a total of 149 to take the third-place finish. (There was apparently some gamesmanship going on between Raul and Pete on the final couple of holes but I’m not supposed to mention that. You will need to ask them for the details or possibly Charlie. He likes telling the story.). Nonetheless, nicely done Fellas and Congratulations Raul on the win!!

Honorable mention goes out to Roger Smith for shooting the low round net score of 69 on day two. Good job Roger!

We had quite a bit of movement on the leaderboard except for first place. Bryan Rocha still holds onto that spot but Pete Perez and Raul Medellin did surpass Charlie Gomez in the standings. Each of these players now have accumulated more than $1,000,000. Joe Loya, Mike Von, Corky Diaz DeLeon, Mario Perez, Victor Darnold, and Carlos Cantu round out the top 10 players.

Next up is Cedar Creek on Saturday June 7th. Hope to see everyone there.

Bryan Rocha

La Cantera

Bryan Rocha and “The Commish”, Maro Perez both shot net 75 scores to finish at the top at La Cantera. We had to go to the cards to figure out who finished in first place. Bryan Rocha took home yet another 1st place finish this year. Congratulations Bryan!! You are putting together a great body of work this year. Finish strong!! Finishing out the top 5; Victor “Vic Dawg” Darnold took the 3rd spot with a net 76; Ronnie Salazar finished in 4th with a net 78 score, and John Tirey finished in 5th with a net 80 score.

With only 4 Tournaments remaining Bryan Rocha is just about to shut everyone out for the year and claim the 2025 trophy without having to play another tournament. Nicely done Bryan! It is well deserved.

Next up is Comanche Trace in Kerrville. This is one of the nicer courses in that area so sign up soon to ensure that you secure your spot. Here are the numbers for La Cantera, and the updated Standings.

Pete Perez

The Flying L Resort-Bandara

It was a close finish between the top 3 players at The Flying L Ranch Golf Course in Bandera. Pete Perez finished one stroke ahead of Joe Loya, and two strokes ahead of Calos Cantu to win with a net 75 score. Congratulation Pete! You are constantly playing well.

Looking at the stats… Joe Loya had a great round. He recorded 5 pars, 12 bogies, and only 1 other. Nicely done, Joe!

There is now less than $500,000 between the top spot and 5th place in the current standings. With Pete Perez’s 1st place finish, Bryan Rocha is hanging onto the 1st place lead by only $25,000. Raul Medellin, Charlie Gomez, and Joe Loya are all within striking distance as well. Good job, Fellas, keep it up!!

Here are the final numbers.

Joe Loya

Brackenridge GC Major

There were several players that had great rounds at our 3rd Major at Brackenridge Park. Raul Medellin and “The Commish” Mario Perez had low net scores of (66) on Saturday, with four others players shooting subpar scores. (Bryan Rocha (69), Ronnie Salazar (69), Corky Diaz DeLeon (69), and David Morin (70)) We also had three players shoot subpar on Sunday, but it was Joe Loya who stole the show shooting a net (66) score on Sunday. Combined with his net (71) score on day one; it gave him a two-day total of 137 to win by one stroke over David Morin and “The Commish” Mario Perez with two-day totals of 138 scores. Excellent two days of golf and great finish Joe!! Congratulations!! The two other players that finished strong on Sunday were David Morin (68) and Pete Perez (70). Nicely done Fellas!!

Bryan Rocha breached the $2,000,000 mark and remains in the lead for the year, with Pete Perez, Joe Loya, Raul Medellin, and Charlie Gomez within striking distance. There is still a lot of golf to be played.

May 10, 2025

Bryan Rocha

Tapatio Springs

Congratulations to Bryan Rocha for shooting an even net 72 from the Tips to take the win at Tapatio Springs! This is the third win for Bryan in 2025, with two second-place finishes as well. You are playing great, Bryan!! You are going to be hard to catch. We had a three-way tie for second place with net 75 scores, between Carlos Cantu (Tips), Corky Diaz DeLeon (2 Up), and Mario “The Commish” Perez (2 Up). We also had a tie for fifth place between “Vic Dawg” Darnold and Pete Perez with net 77 scores. Good shooting, Fellas, on a course that requires all our course management skills.

Bryan Rocha is slowly pulling away from the field, but it’s a tight race for the second and third podium spots. Seven players within $300,000 or less between themselves could claim one of these spots. With several majors’ tournaments remaining, a few or all of them could make a run at Mr. Rocha. Time will tell.

Here are our final numbers and updated standings.
