Corky Diaz de Leon
Landa Park (5th Major)
2023-09-02
Congratulations to Corky Diaz DeLeon on shooting a solid two days of golf at Landa Park to take the win (net 71 and 72). Corky's two day net total of 143 was one stroke better than Bryan Rocha (net 75 and 69). Taking the third spot was John Tirey (net 74 and 71). Good shooting Fellas and well deserved Corky!
Charlie Gomez is hanging on to first place, but his margin of separation has been reduced to $285,000. The "Commish" Mario Perez is still in striking distance, but is no longer in second place. That belongs to Bryan Rocha. Both he and Corky have taken over the second and third spots, respectively. Raul Medellin, Victor "Vic Dawg" Darnold, Joe Loya, and Mike Von all are hanging around and could still make a run at or current leader Charlie Gomez.
Mike Von gets the honorable mention for this tournament. Von shot a 78, and 69, total 147 net score and ended up in fifth place just 4 strokes off the lead. He had 2 birdies and 5 pars on day one and 4 birdies and 6 pars on day two. As Gabe Martinez mentioned... "His handicap caught up to him." and it did on the other holes in his round. And that's the rollercoaster of a round of us handicap players! Just wanted to say nicely done my friend!!

Mike Von
The Bandit, New Braunfels, TX
2023-05-13
Mike Von had 1 Birdie, and 9 Pars on his way to shooting a net 65 score (38/42, 80) to take the win at The Bandit. What was forecasted to be a very rainy day turned out to be just a wet one. Charlie Gomez shot the most constant score to take second place, with 2 Birdies, and 10 Pars for a net 67 score (39/39, 78). Corky Diaz DeLeon finished in third shooting a net 70 score (40/43, 83). Nicely done Fellas, and Congratulation to Mike Von on taking home his first win of the season!!
Anthony Campbell is holding on to first place but not by much ($145,000). Each of the top three finishers at the Bandit, (Mike Von, Charlie Gomez and Corky Diaz Deleon) each are in striking distance of first place. We can't forget about Mario "The Commish" Perez who was not able to play at the Bandit; allowing Charlie to hop over him in the standing to take over the second spot. That is not going to sit well with The Commish! Our next tournament is our 2nd Major of the year at the Quarry. Will these guys continue to play well and hold off the the rest of the field or is there a sleeper out there just waiting for an opportunity to shin? Please join us and find out.

Raul Medellin shot an excellent round of (38/41, 79) net 66 to beat the field by 4 strokes and claim the Championship at Starcke Park. He was playing lights out shooting either a birdie (1), par (9), bogey (7) or double bogey (1) during his round. Great shooting Raul and Congratulations!! Bryan Rocha shot (41/39, 80) net 70 to take second place and we had a tie for third between Mike Von (45/41, 86) and Ronnie Salazar (41/42, 83) net 72 scores. Nicely done Fellas!

Bryan Rocha
Canyon Springs
2023-06-24
Bryan Rocha defended his Championship from last year at Canyon Springs by defeating Raul Medellin in a one hole playoff. Both players had a net two day score of 157. Raul played his tee shot on the right side of the fairway. He did not have a clear shot at the green. He had to go over the trees that protect the green. He made a great shot to clear the trees but ended up pin high but just off the green on the right. Brynan made the shot of the tournament by sticking his approach shot within 12 feet from the hole. Raul chipped up and made par. While Bryan lined up his birdie putt and rolled it in just as smooth as butter!! Great shooting Guys! Several other players were within striking distance. Roland Vara, Victor "Vic Dawg" Darnold, and Mario "The Commish" Perez rounded out the top 5 spots with net two day scores of 158, 159, and 160 respectively. Nicely done Fellas.
Charlie Gomez is still in the lead for the year. "The Commish" and Anthony Campbell flopped the 2nd and 3rd spots and both Bryan Rocha and Raul Medellin moved up into the top five positions. Here is how the standings look for the year and the totals from the tournament.
Thanks, Steve

Bryan Rocha
Star Ranch, Hutto, TX
2023-08-05
We had one player play from the Tips on a very windy day at Star Ranch. The Tips were playing 7017 yards and this player ended up being the Tournament Champ. That player was Bryan Rocha who shot 41/38, 79, low net score of 66. Congratulations Bryan!! He did not have the low gross score for the Tournament. That belonged to our second place finisher Joe Loya. Joe shot 37/40, 77, net 67. Nicely done Joe! We had a tie for the third spot between Corky Diaz DeLeon and Ronnie Salazar who shot 36/43, 79, and 39/40, 79, net 68 scores respectively. Great shooting Fellas. Congratulations again to Bryan Rocha for taking home the win!!
Charlie Gomez still holds a commanding lead over the field sitting at $2,365,000 for the year. "The Commish" Mario Perez remains in second place with $1,798,333, Bryan Rocha took over our third spot. Raul Medellin is in fourth and Anthony Campbell rounds out the top five. We are on the down slope of tournaments to be played this year, so if one of these guys expects to give Charlie a run for his money then they need to make their move soon.
Here are the Tournament Totals, Stats and Updated Yearly Standings. Our next Tournament is at Starkey Park in Seguin on August 19th. Hope to see you there.

Charlie Gomez
Willow Springs
2023-06-10
It took another playoff to determine our Champion at Willow Springs. Charlie Gomez and Steve Copp both shot net 67 scores to finish the tournament. (40/39, 79, and 42/42, 84, respectively) Charlie and I started our playoff on hole #10; a par 5 dogleg left that plays 452 from the white tees. A well placed drive will give you a shot at a small size green protected by a font bunker on the right side and a line of trees on the left. Charlie teed it up first and hit a good drive down the right side of the fairway. He was probably 220 or so out. I teed my shot up and hit one of my better drives of the day straight down the middle that ended up just at the bend of the fairway on the right side. It was 185 to the pin. The pin was in the back left-center of the green. Charlie played an excellent second shot that ended up just in front of the green about 6ft off. I blocked my 5 iron shot that ended up pin high but off the green to the right. I ended up with a semi-buried lie that was sitting down in the grass. Charlie was out so he hit next. He must have looked up on his shot because he left himself a good 30th or so from the hole. I tried to play a bunker shot to get it out of the grass and close to the hole, to put some pressure on Charlie. I slid the club right under the ball, and ended up double hitting it. That stopped its momentum and left it about 40ft short of the hole. We both are laying 3 at this point. I was still out. I lined up my birdie putt and gave it a good wack, so I thought... It ended up 4ft short. Charlie rolled his putt up to the hole about 3ft. out. Okay... so we both roll our par putts in and move on to the next hole, right? Nope! My 4t footer lipped out and Charlie made his 3 footer to seal the deal. Charlie Gomez was declared our Tournament Champion!! Congratulations my friend!! I will get you next time. We had a three way tie for the third spot with net 69 scores between Joe Loya (40/47, 87), Victor "Vic Dawg" Darnold (44/44, 88) and Mario "The Commish" Perez (48/42, 90). Excellent shooting Fellas!!
It is still pretty tight at the top of the leaderboard for the year. Charlie Gomez is in the lead with $1,470,000, and Anthony Campbell is in our second place spot just $260,00 back. Both Mario Perez and Mike Von are keeping pace, only $291,667 and $520,000 back, respectively. We can't forget about "The Sleeper" Joe Loya just $556,667 off the lead as well. Those are our top 5 players as of right now.
Next up is our 3rd Major of the year at Canyon Springs. Hope to see you there.

With this win Anthony Campbell has take over the first place spot for the year by $175,000. Mario “The Commish” Perez, Charlie Gomez, Mike Von, and Ron “Tiger” Tatsch finish out the top five spot respectively.

Charlie Gomez
Randolph AFB
2023-07-22
Charlie Gomez has really stepped up his game this year! This was his second win of a Major Tournament. Charlie shot a solid score on Sunday (38/38, 76, net 66) to take home the win. Charlie's net 66 score on Sunday was not the low score for the day. That belonged to the defending Champ Carlos Cantu. Carlos shot a 38/40, 78, net 65 and placed 3rd overall. Vic "Dawg" Darnold was our day 1 leader and finished in 2nd place just three strokes back of the leader. All three of these players played consistent golf each day (along with Raul Medellin who finished in a tie for 5th) shooting bogie golf or better each day! Nicely done Fellas and Congratulations Charlie on the win!!
With this second Major win Charlie Gomez is pulling away from the pack in our yearly standings. He is $536,667 ahead of his nearest competitor "The Commish", Mario Perez. Raul Medellin and Vic Dawg both jumped ahead of Anthony Campbell in the standings after this tournament and are in third and fourth place respectively. Check out the attached updated standing to see where you rank among these players.
Here are the Randolph AFB Totals, Stats, and updated standings. Hope to see you soon!

Roland Vara
The Quarry
2023-05-27
Roland Vara was 2 under par (33) on day one and 1 under par (34) on the front nine at the Quarry last weekend. The back nine wasn't as kind to him but he played well enough to finish with a two day net total of 140 that was two under for the tournament to take home the win. Nicely done Roland and Congratulations!! Kevin Starry (our 2012 Travelers Cup Tour of San Antonio Champion) showed that he still can score by finishing with a two day net total of 141. Joe Loya was striking the ball well and improved his day one score by 3 strokes to finish in our third spot with a net 143 two day total. These three guys were paired up together in the last group on day two. Keven Starry had the first day lead with a net 67 score. Roland Vara was two strokes back with a 69 and Joe Loya was six back with a 73 after day one. Any one of these guys could have won our 2nd Major of the year. I wish that I was there to watch them battle it out. Great job guys!
There's a new Sheriff in town, Fellas... and he goes by the name of Charlie Gomez. Charlie has played well and has taken over the first place spot from Anthony Campbell for the year by $15,000. Mario "The Commish" Perez continues to play well also and remains in the third spot just $105,000 back. We have several other players still in contention too. Still a lot of golf to be played.

Charlie Gomez
Alsatian, Castroville, Texas
2023-04-01
Our first Major of the season ended up in a tie for first place between Charlie Gomez and Mike Von with two day net scores of 140. We had to go to the cards to figure out our Champion . Congratulations to Charlie Gomez on being our first Major Champion of the Year at Alsatian. Charlie shot two net 70 scores to take the win. Well done my friend! Mike Von came to play on day two and shot 4 strokes better than his day one score 72/68. It would have been interesting to watch a hole by hole playoff if the course would have been able to let them play. In our third spot was our lowest handicap player Ron "Tiger" Tatsch. Tiger shot net 70/72 to finish two back of our leaders.
With their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes Charlie, Von, and Tiger all jumped up several spots in the Standings. Mario "The Commish" Perez is still in the lead with Anthony Campbell right behind him. We are very young in the season so it is still anyone's Championship for the taking.
